Job Overview:
A respected law firm based in New York City, NY, is seeking a mid-level Associate Attorney to join its Trusts & Estates group. This position offers the opportunity to work on sophisticated estate planning and administration matters for high-net-worth clients. The ideal candidate brings a solid foundation in drafting and fiduciary matters, with a strong interest in tax-focused planning strategies.

Duties:

• Draft a variety of estate planning instruments, including wills, revocable and irrevocable trusts, powers of attorney, and advance directives

• Assist with trust and estate administration, including probate filings, fiduciary accounting, and asset distributions

• Conduct legal research and prepare written analyses on estate, gift, GST, and income tax issues

• Collaborate with senior attorneys on tax-efficient wealth transfers and complex planning strategies for high-net-worth individuals

• Communicate directly with clients, fiduciaries, and financial advisors with professionalism and clarity

Requirements:

• Admission to the New York State Bar

• 2-5 years of prior experience in a trusts and estates practice within a law firm setting

• Demonstrated proficiency in drafting legal documents and conducting legal research

• Proven ability to manage multiple tasks independently and meet deadlines

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Admission to the New York Bar is required

• LLM in Taxation preferred

Skills:

• Expertise in estate and gift tax issues

• Meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational skills

• Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively

• Professional communication with clients and third-party advisors

• Familiarity with probate procedures and fiduciary responsibilities
