Job Overview:
A well-established law firm is seeking a Litigation Associate Attorney with 2–3 years of experience in commercial and/or general civil litigation to join its Rochester, NY office. This position is ideal for early-career litigators who are eager to gain hands-on courtroom experience and collaborate with seasoned professionals in a supportive and growth-oriented environment. The role offers a hybrid work schedule following an onboarding period. This opportunity is presented by a legal recruiting agency on behalf of the hiring firm.

Location:

• Rochester, New York

Duties:

Client Representation:

• Represent clients in court proceedings, arbitrations, and mediations

• Draft and argue various motions, including dispositive and procedural motions

• Conduct legal research and draft memoranda, pleadings, and briefs

• Participate in court conferences, assist with depositions, and support settlement negotiations

Case Management:

• Manage a diverse litigation caseload under the supervision of senior attorneys

• Handle discovery, including document review, production, and analysis

• Assist in developing legal strategies in collaboration with partners and clients

Firm & Practice Development:

• Participate in practice group meetings, training programs, and firm initiatives

• Build and maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication and service

• Contribute to a collaborative and collegial team culture

Requirements:

• 2–3 years of experience in commercial or general civil litigation

• Ability to manage deadlines and multiple case matters simultaneously

• Interest or experience in appellate work, creditors’ rights, family law, or labor & employment law is a plus

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Admission to practice law in New York State

Skills:

• Strong legal research and writing capabilities

• Excellent oral advocacy and courtroom presence

• High attention to detail and strong organizational skills

• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
