Job Title: Associate Attorney

Job Overview:

A prestigious law firm based in Kansas City, MO is looking to expand its civil litigation defense practice. This is a dynamic opportunity for an associate attorney to represent a diverse range of clients, including insurance companies, corporate entities, and their insureds, across all phases of civil litigation. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing cases, conducting legal research, preparing legal documents, and participating in negotiations, all while collaborating with a team of dedicated professionals.

Duties:

• Represent insurance company clients, their insureds, and corporate clients in civil litigation matters.
• Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to support case strategy.
• Draft and prepare legal documents such as pleadings, discovery requests, motions, and other relevant filings.
• Manage cases from inception through resolution, including preparation for hearings, depositions, and trials.
• Negotiate settlements and provide strategic advice to clients.
• Collaborate with team members and independently handle case responsibilities.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the Missouri or Kansas State Bar (must be willing to complete admission to the other state after hire).
• Proven experience in civil litigation, with a focus on defense work.
• Strong proficiency in legal research and writing.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage caseloads independently while collaborating with colleagues.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Admission to Missouri or Kansas State Bar (with the commitment to gain admission in the other state post-hire).

Skills:

• In-depth knowledge of civil litigation processes.
• Exceptional research, writing, and communication skills.
• Strong negotiation and client management abilities.
• Ability to handle a diverse caseload independently and collaboratively.
