Job Title: IP Litigation Associate

Job Overview:
A prominent law firm in Hartford, CT, is seeking a mid-level associate with a strong background in intellectual property litigation. This role offers the opportunity to engage in complex disputes involving patent rights and other forms of IP across trial courts and administrative forums. The ideal candidate will contribute to a dynamic team that is deeply integrated into both U.S. and cross-border litigation strategy, working closely with seasoned trial attorneys on high-stakes matters.

Duties:

• Manage various phases of patent and intellectual property litigation in federal courts

• Conduct and oversee document collection, production, and review processes

• Participate in discovery-related activities, including meet-and-confer negotiations

• Take and defend depositions of parties, fact witnesses, and experts

• Collaborate with technical and industry experts in developing expert reports

• Draft persuasive legal memoranda, motions, and briefs for dispositive and procedural issues

• Assist in the preparation and strategy for inter partes reviews and proceedings before the PTAB

• Engage directly with senior attorneys and clients on litigation strategy and case development

Requirements:

• 2 to 4 years of experience focused on patent or IP litigation

• Demonstrated familiarity with litigation procedures, including discovery and trial prep

• Prior experience with PTAB or inter partes review proceedings is advantageous

• Strong writing and analytical capabilities

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously

• Interest in continued professional development and litigation responsibility

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Admission to at least one U.S. state bar (preferably Connecticut or ability to waive in)

• Admission to practice before U.S. District Courts or the USPTO is a plus

Skills:

• Advanced legal research and drafting skills

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills

• Proven ability to work independently and as part of a litigation team

• Technically adept and comfortable handling complex patent subject matter
