Job Overview:
A law firm in Los Angeles, CA is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Tech Transactions and Data Privacy (Incident Response) Associate Attorney to join its team. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in privacy litigation and a deep understanding of federal, state, and international privacy laws. The role involves managing case work-up, preparing for trials, and providing practical advice to clients on complex legal matters. The successful candidate will have strong legal research and writing skills, coupled with excellent academic credentials, and will interact directly with clients on sophisticated cases.

Job Responsibilities:

• Manage all elements of case work-up and trial preparation for privacy litigation matters
• Draft briefs, complaints, pretrial motions, memoranda, and discovery requests
• Provide immediate client interaction, offering practical advice on privacy and tech transaction matters
• Handle privacy and incident response matters, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and international privacy laws
• Collaborate with clients on complex privacy litigation issues and deliver strategic legal counsel
• Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to support litigation strategies
• Prepare and respond to discovery requests, motions, and other litigation-related documents
• Participate in trial preparations, including witness prep, exhibit preparation, and strategy development
• Engage in settlement negotiations and assist with trial proceedings
• Stay updated on developments in privacy laws and emerging data protection regulations

Requirements:

• Significant litigation experience, particularly in privacy-related cases
• Expertise in federal, state, and international privacy laws (CIPP or similar certifications are a plus)
• Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
• Ability to draft a wide range of legal documents, including briefs, complaints, and motions
• Superior problem-solving skills, with the ability to offer practical legal advice
• Strong client-facing skills, with the ability to interact and communicate effectively with clients
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple complex projects simultaneously
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines

Education and Certifications:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
• Must be licensed to practice law in California (in good standing)

Skills:

• Advanced understanding of privacy law, including GDPR, CCPA, and HIPAA
• Proficiency in legal research tools (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational skills with a focus on attention to detail
• Ability to provide sound, practical legal advice under pressure
• Strong litigation management and trial preparation skills
• Strong interpersonal skills, with a client-first approach to legal work

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience in a law firm or similar professional legal environment

• Experience with data breach response and handling incident response investigations
