Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Family Law Attorney to join their team in Chicago, IL. This role offers an opportunity for a motivated attorney to gain meaningful courtroom experience and engage in hands-on client contact within a collaborative environment.

Duties

• Manage family law cases from inception through resolution.
• Draft pleadings, motions, judgments, and settlement agreements.
• Appear in court both in person and via Zoom.
• Conduct and respond to discovery.
• Communicate regularly with clients to explain strategy and guide decision-making.
• Participate in consultations with prospective new clients.
• Maintain case deadlines and manage workflow effectively.

Requirements

• Licensed and in good standing with the Illinois Bar.
• 1-3 years of family law litigation experience preferred.
• Courtroom experience strongly preferred.
• Proficiency in legal research, with Westlaw preferred.
• Strong oral advocacy and legal writing skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple active cases.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel).
• Experience with Clio is a plus.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree.

Certifications

• Licensed to practice law in Illinois.
