Job Overview

A law firm seeks a highly motivated Patent Agent/Advisor in Palo Alto to join its dynamic life sciences patent prosecution and counseling practice. The ideal candidate will possess a Ph.D. in Cellular & Molecular Biology, Immunology, Genetics, Biochemistry, or a related field.

Duties

• Conduct prior art database searches for patentability and freedom to operate analyses.
• Analyze patents and scientific papers to assist patent attorneys on prosecution, counseling, and litigation.
• Draft patent applications and responses to office actions.
• Participate in post-grant procedures at the USPTO.

Requirements

• Superb technical, written, and verbal communication skills in English.
• Broad scientific knowledge in biotechnology.
• Initiative, fast learner, and ability to work well with others.
• Registered USPTO patent agent or eligible to sit for the USPTO registration exam.

Education

• Ph.D. in Cellular & Molecular Biology, Immunology, Genetics, Biochemistry, or a related field.

Certifications

• Registered USPTO patent agent or eligibility to sit for the USPTO registration exam.

Skills

• Technical, written, and verbal communication skills.
