Job Overview:

A respected law firm based in Redwood City, CA, is actively seeking a Litigation Associate with mid-level experience to join its team through a legal recruitment partnership. This position is ideal for a legal professional with a solid foundation in insurance-related litigation and commercial dispute matters, especially those involving liability coverage and reinsurance complexities. The role involves hands-on litigation work and the opportunity to manage sophisticated matters involving high-value claims.

Duties:

• Handle litigation matters involving insurance coverage under general liability, professional liability, and D&O policies

• Draft and review pleadings, motions, and legal memoranda

• Conduct discovery, including depositions, document requests, and responses

• Participate in motion practice, hearings, and other court proceedings

• Manage and strategize independently on active cases while collaborating with team members

• Interface with clients and support relationship development efforts

• Engage in high-level analysis of policy interpretation and reinsurance issues

• Contribute to internal knowledge sharing and team development initiatives

Requirements:

• 4 to 7 years of experience in insurance litigation and/or reinsurance disputes

• Deep understanding of liability insurance coverage frameworks

• Demonstrated litigation experience across all phases of case management

• Familiarity with legal proceedings in both state and federal courts

• Ability to operate independently on casework with minimal oversight

• Commitment to maintaining high professional standards and ethics

• Prior exposure to business development or client-facing legal tasks is a plus

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications:

• Active membership and good standing with the California State Bar (or eligibility to waive in)
