A well-established boutique law firm located in New Britain, CT, is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Criminal Defense Attorney to join its expanding practice. This position offers an opportunity to work closely with experienced partners and support staff in a collaborative environment, advocating vigorously on behalf of clients. The ideal candidate will possess strong research, litigation, and client-relations skills and thrive in a fast-paced, technology-driven setting.

Duties:

• Represent clients in criminal defense matters, appearing in court and arguing motions.

• Conduct in-depth legal research and draft motions, pleadings, briefs, and other legal documents.

• Advise clients on legal options and develop strategies to achieve favorable outcomes.

• Oversee paralegals, clerks, and administrative staff in preparing and finalizing casework.

• Manage case files and administrative tasks, including client invoicing and scheduling.

• Maintain regular communication with clients, updating them on case progress and next steps.

• Identify potential conflicts and propose resolution strategies tailored to client needs.

• Lead and mentor administrative teams in billing practices, meeting preparation, and project completion.

• Ensure thorough preparation for hearings, trials, and negotiations.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 2-5 years of experience practicing law, preferably in a law firm environment.

• Licensed to practice law and in good standing with the state Bar, with no disciplinary record.

• Strong ability to manage a substantial caseload independently.

• Demonstrated ability to excel in a high-volume, fast-paced setting.

• Proven public speaking, decision-making, problem-solving, and interpersonal abilities.

• Skilled in using legal technology and case management systems in a Mac-based office environment.

• Experience with legal research platforms such as Westlaw and Lexis.

• Capable of handling multiple case files efficiently with minimal supervision.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Active Bar membership in good standing.
