Job Overview:
A leading national law firm is seeking a junior associate attorney (1st–4th year) to join its Environmental Practice Group in Salt Lake City. The ideal candidate will have experience with environmental regulatory compliance, enforcement matters, and a strong interest in environmental law as it intersects with corporate transactions, restructuring, and/or litigation. This position provides an excellent opportunity to work on cutting-edge legal issues and develop within a high-performing, collaborative legal team.
Location:

Duties:
Advise clients on federal and state environmental regulatory compliance and enforcement
Support transactions and restructuring matters involving environmental liabilities
Assist with environmental due diligence in mergers, acquisitions, and financings
Participate in environmental litigation and/or administrative proceedings when needed
Research and analyze complex environmental statutes and regulatory frameworks
Draft legal memoranda, correspondence, and regulatory filings
Collaborate with senior attorneys across practice groups on environmental and cross-disciplinary matters
Requirements:
1 to 4 years of relevant experience in environmental regulatory law
Background in administrative law and/or restructuring is a plus
Exposure to environmental litigation and liabilities preferred
Demonstrated interest in environmental law and policy
Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple matters simultaneously
Education:
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited, top-tier law school
Certifications:
Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction (or eligibility for admission)
Skills:
In-depth knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations (e.g., CERCLA, RCRA, CWA, CAA)
Legal research and analytical writing proficiency
Familiarity with environmental compliance, risk assessment, and enforcement procedures
Clear and persuasive communication skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
