Job Title: Litigation Attorney
Job Overview:
A respected law firm in Phoenix, AZ, seeks a Litigation Attorney to manage a high-volume docket of personal injury cases, including motor vehicle accidents, dog bites, and premises liability matters. This role involves managing claims from intake through resolution, whether through negotiation, arbitration, or trial. The ideal candidate will demonstrate empathy, legal acumen, and a proactive mindset to guide clients through complex legal matters and achieve optimal outcomes. This position includes leadership of a case team and regular collaboration with paralegals and legal managers.
Duties:
Oversee a caseload of 180–210 active pre-litigation personal injury files
Provide backup support to the Intake Department, including rotational weekend coverage (every 6–8 weeks)
Maintain client contact by conducting status update calls every 90 days
Analyze case details and assess claims, liability, damages, and insurance recovery potential
Guide clients through legal processes, setting realistic expectations
Conduct client interviews to gather facts, assess injuries, and document treatment plans
Resolve property damage claims and coordinate related services (e.g., rentals, total loss assessments)
Review police reports, medical documents, and insurance correspondence
Maintain accurate documentation in case management systems
Lead weekly paralegal case review meetings
Prepare and review legal documents, including pleadings, discovery, and trial materials
Negotiate bodily injury claims with insurance carriers (including UM/UIM claims)
Monitor statutory and internal deadlines to avoid lapses
Gather critical evidence, including surveillance, bodycam footage, and witness statements
Determine litigation strategy and consult with managing attorneys as needed
Represent clients in arbitration, mediation, and courtroom proceedings
Participate in team meetings and collaborate with peers to discuss case strategies
Support trial work, including second-chair responsibilities
Prepare disbursement statements outlining settlements, fees, and client recovery
Perform other tasks as required to support litigation operations
Requirements:
2-3 years of hands-on experience managing both pre-litigation and litigation personal injury matters
Deep understanding of Arizona civil procedure, insurance laws, and arbitration practices
Familiarity with lien resolution and client reimbursement processes
Skilled in drafting policy limit demands and supporting liability arguments
Ability to manage competing priorities and meet multiple deadlines
Experience with property damage claims and client compensation protocols
Familiarity with digital case management tools (Filevine or Needles is a plus, but not required)
Education:
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
Certifications:
Licensed and in good standing with the State Bar of Arizona
