Job Title: General Liability Litigation Attorney

A respected law firm located in Overland Park, KS, is seeking a litigation-focused attorney to manage and defend general liability claims. The role emphasizes hands-on case management, court appearances, and strategic litigation support for diverse liability cases.

Duties:

• Review and analyze medical records and supporting documentation

• Conduct and defend depositions involving plaintiffs, expert witnesses, and relevant parties

• Draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, briefs, and opinions

• Handle discovery processes and perform legal research as required

• Represent clients in hearings, trials, mediations, and arbitrations

• Advocate in state and federal courts across Kansas and Missouri

• Collaborate with claims representatives on case progress and legal strategy

• Evaluate and mitigate potential legal risks through proactive investigation

• Participate in settlement negotiations on behalf of clients

• Attend and contribute to internal claims reviews

• Prepare detailed case status updates and reports for internal stakeholders

Requirements:

• Active law license in Kansas and Missouri

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in general liability or civil litigation defense

• Strong litigation background with court appearance experience preferred

• Familiarity with both state and federal procedural rules

• Ability to manage multiple caseloads efficiently and meet deadlines

• High ethical standards with a commitment to client confidentiality

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Admission to the Kansas and Missouri Bar

• UBE score of 266 or higher from another jurisdiction will be considered

Skills:

• Proficient in Microsoft Word; experience with legal software such as Perfect Law is a plus

• Advanced research and analytical writing abilities

• Strong verbal communication and courtroom advocacy skills

• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and documentation practices

• Capable of building and maintaining client relationships
