A leading national law firm is seeking a Natural Resources Associate Attorney with 1–5 years of experience to join its California-based practice. The position offers the opportunity to work on high-profile natural resources matters including water rights, regulatory compliance, and infrastructure development. Attorneys may work from one of several California offices, contributing to a collaborative team focused on providing strategic counsel and legal representation in complex environmental and public agency matters.

Represent clients in litigation and administrative proceedings related to state and federal natural resources law
Advise on strategic water supply planning, permitting, and regulatory compliance
Assist with adjudications of groundwater rights and water utility matters
Navigate complex permitting processes involving local, state, and federal agencies
Advise public agencies on issues related to Propositions 26 and 218
Conduct due diligence and support infrastructure development projects
Ensure compliance with CEQA (California Environmental Quality Act) and NEPA (National Environmental Policy Act)
Draft legal documents including memoranda, briefs, regulatory filings, and presentations
Collaborate with clients, agency officials, and legal teams across multiple jurisdictions
1–5 years of relevant legal experience in natural resources, water, or environmental law
Experience with litigation, administrative hearings, permitting, or regulatory issues
Familiarity with CEQA, NEPA, and public agency law preferred
Ability to manage multiple ongoing legal matters in a fast-paced environment
Strong commitment to legal excellence and client service
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
Strong academic performance is required
Admission to the California State Bar preferred (or eligibility for admission)
Exceptional legal research, writing, and analytical skills
Strong public speaking and presentation abilities
Highly organized and detail-oriented
