Junior Defense Litigation Associate

Job Overview:
A respected law firm is seeking a junior-level litigation associate with at least one (1) year of experience in defense litigation. This position provides an opportunity to represent a diverse range of clients, including Fortune 500 companies, national retailers, transportation carriers, and insurance providers across New York State. The ideal candidate will have some deposition experience, a keen eye for detail, and strong writing and communication skills. The associate will work closely with senior litigation partners in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.

Location:
Buffalo, NY

Duties:

• Represent clients in the defense of litigation claims throughout New York State
• Assist in managing cases, including pre-trial preparation, discovery, and trial support
• Draft legal documents such as motions, pleadings, and discovery requests
• Conduct depositions and participate in client meetings
• Collaborate with litigation partners and team members on case strategies
• Maintain organized case files and ensure timely submissions and filings
• Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel

Requirements:

• Minimum of 1 year of defense litigation experience
• Deposition experience and familiarity with trial preparation
• Strong writing, research, and communication skills
• Ability to work well in a collaborative team environment
• Only candidates licensed to practice law in New York State will be considered
• Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Licensed to practice law in New York State

Skills:

• Strong legal research and writing skills
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research tools
• Ability to handle a fast-paced and varied caseload
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
