A law firm seeks a Mid to Senior Business/General Litigation Associate in Santa Barbara, California. The successful candidate will join a dynamic legal team handling commercial and business disputes, employment litigation, trusts and estates, real estate, and land use matters. The ideal candidate will possess 5-8 years of litigation experience and demonstrate a strong work ethic and the ability to manage complex cases independently.

Duties

• Manage a caseload proactively and ensure case progress.
• Draft pleadings, pre-trial motions, and oppositions with precision.
• Initiate and respond to written discovery requests efficiently.
• Take and defend depositions of clients, opposing parties, and witnesses.
• Conduct comprehensive legal and factual research.
• Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel.
• Attend pre-trial court appearances and represent clients confidently.
• Assist in preparing for and participating in arbitrations and trials.
• Contribute to post-trial motions and appellate briefs.
• Delegate tasks to paralegals and legal assistants, ensuring accuracy.

Requirements

• Admitted to practice before the California Bar.
• 5-8 years of civil litigation experience, preferably in civil and business litigation.
• Strong reading comprehension, legal writing, and communication skills.
• Excellent decision-making and critical thinking abilities.
• Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail.
• Proficient in legal research tools and litigation support software.
• Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• California Bar admission.
