Job Overview:
A respected law firm in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a Senior Immigration Attorney to join its established and growing immigration practice. This position offers the opportunity to work on a diverse caseload, including both detained and non-detained matters, and to develop meaningful relationships with clients while providing strategic and compassionate legal representation. The successful candidate will have significant immigration law experience and the opportunity to collaborate with a supportive team of attorneys and legal staff.
Location:
Phoenix, Arizona
Duties:
Represent detained and non-detained clients in removal proceedings before Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals
Conduct in-person intake visits at detention facilities
Prepare and file a variety of immigration applications, including those related to removal defense, humanitarian relief, and family-based immigration
Provide strategic consultations to prospective clients and develop case strategies
Review immigration application packets and make revisions as needed
Prepare legal briefs and memoranda for a variety of immigration matters
Prepare clients and witnesses for USCIS interviews and immigration court appearances
Collaborate with law enforcement and community-based organizations on immigration-related legal education and policy updates
Maintain an active caseload and ensure timely case progress and compliance
Participate in case planning and internal strategy sessions with other attorneys and legal staff
Requirements:
Minimum of 5–8 years of experience practicing immigration law
Demonstrated ability to manage complex immigration cases independently
Comfortable representing clients in both detained and non-detained settings
Proficient in working with vulnerable populations with professionalism and compassion
Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred, but not required
Familiarity with EOIR, USCIS processes, and forms
Experience using legal case management software preferred
Proven ability to work collaboratively with peers and support staff
Education:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
Certifications:
Active license to practice law in a U.S. state
In good standing with the relevant state bar
Skills:
Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills
Excellent interpersonal and client communication abilities
High level of organization and attention to detail
Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines
Collaborative, solutions-oriented, and proactive approach to legal work
Knowledgeable about current immigration policies and procedures
