Associate Immigration Attorney

Job Overview:
A prominent law firm in Phoenix, AZ, is seeking an Associate Immigration Attorney to join its well-established immigration practice. This opportunity offers significant room for professional growth, a collaborative environment, and exposure to a diverse caseload. The selected candidate will work closely with senior attorneys, manage independent case files, and engage directly with clients, including representation before courts and government agencies.

Duties:

• Explain immigration procedures and develop strategic solutions for clients

• Represent clients in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals

• Manage a diverse caseload independently and in collaboration with the immigration team

• Conduct intake interviews, including with detained individuals at detention facilities

• Prepare and file a variety of immigration applications, including removal defense, family-based petitions, and humanitarian relief

• Review and revise immigration applications and case packets

• Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutors, and community organizations regarding immigration law updates

• Conduct strategic consultations with prospective clients to assess case viability and develop action plans

• Prepare clients and witnesses for court hearings and USCIS interviews

• Analyze legal issues to determine eligibility and best-case benefits

• Draft and submit legal briefs for various immigration matters

Requirements:

• 1 to 4 years of immigration law experience

• Demonstrated ability to manage a case docket effectively

• Collaborative team orientation and willingness to strategize with fellow attorneys

• Proficiency in family-based petitions, humanitarian relief applications, EOIR proceedings, detained cases, citizenship applications, and other USCIS processes

• Familiarity with case management software (preferred)

• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish (preferred)

• Exceptional interpersonal and client-relations skills

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school

• Admission to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction

Certifications:

• Active and good standing with the relevant state bar (any U.S. jurisdiction)

Skills:

• Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills

• Effective oral advocacy skills in court and before government agencies

• High-level organizational skills with attention to detail

• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
