Associate Immigration Attorney
Job Overview:
A prominent law firm in Phoenix, AZ, is seeking an Associate Immigration Attorney to join its well-established immigration practice. The selected candidate will work closely with senior attorneys, manage independent case files, and engage directly with clients, including representation before courts and government agencies.
Duties:
Explain immigration procedures and develop strategic solutions for clients
Represent clients in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals
Manage a diverse caseload independently and in collaboration with the immigration team
Conduct intake interviews, including with detained individuals at detention facilities
Prepare and file a variety of immigration applications, including removal defense, family-based petitions, and humanitarian relief
Review and revise immigration applications and case packets
Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutors, and community organizations regarding immigration law updates
Conduct strategic consultations with prospective clients to assess case viability and develop action plans
Prepare clients and witnesses for court hearings and USCIS interviews
Analyze legal issues to determine eligibility and best-case benefits
Draft and submit legal briefs for various immigration matters
Requirements:
1 to 4 years of immigration law experience
Demonstrated ability to manage a case docket effectively
Collaborative team orientation and willingness to strategize with fellow attorneys
Proficiency in family-based petitions, humanitarian relief applications, EOIR proceedings, detained cases, citizenship applications, and other USCIS processes
Familiarity with case management software (preferred)
Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish (preferred)
Exceptional interpersonal and client-relations skills
Education:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
Admission to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
Certifications:
Active and good standing with the relevant state bar (any U.S. jurisdiction)
Skills:
Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
Effective oral advocacy skills in court and before government agencies
High-level organizational skills with attention to detail
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
