A law firm is seeking an experienced associate attorney with 2 to 4 years of experience to join its insurance, commercial, and coverage litigation team in Chicago. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil defense litigation, including personal injury defense and familiarity with medical and expert discovery. Duties:

• Manage all phases of civil defense litigation from inception to resolution.
• Conduct all aspects of discovery, including depositions, interrogatories, and expert discovery.
• Ensure cases move smoothly through the litigation process.
• Analyze case progress, risks, budgets, and exposures, and report to clients, including insurance and risk management teams.
• Work independently on billable matters while maintaining efficiency in a high-volume environment.
• Collaborate with team members and contribute to case strategies.
• Communicate with clients to provide regular updates and legal advice.

Requirements:

• Licensed to practice in the State of Illinois.
• 2 to 4 years of litigation experience, preferably in personal injury defense.
• Familiarity with medical and expert discovery.
• Ability to manage a high-volume caseload and meet deadlines.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while contributing to team efforts.
• Strong analytical skills with a focus on risk management and case strategy.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Active membership with the Illinois State Bar in good standing.

Skills:

• Expertise in civil defense litigation, particularly in insurance and commercial matters.
• Strong research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
• Proficient in handling all phases of discovery and legal analysis.
• Ability to manage and prioritize multiple cases efficiently.
