Job Overview

A respected immigration law firm in the Austin, Texas area is seeking an experienced Senior Immigration Attorney to join its dynamic legal team. This position offers the opportunity to manage a diverse caseload involving both detained and non-detained individuals, while also mentoring junior attorneys and collaborating with a dedicated legal support staff. The role focuses on removal defense, family-based immigration petitions, humanitarian relief, and appearances before the Immigration Court and USCIS. Duties

  • Represent clients in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals

  • Manage a full caseload involving detained and non-detained individuals

  • Prepare and file various immigration applications, including:

    • I-130 (family-based petitions)

    • I-601, I-601A (waivers)

    • EOIR-related filings

    • Naturalization and citizenship applications

  • Visit detention centers and conduct in-person intake evaluations

  • Review and revise immigration application packets and legal documentation

  • Provide strategic legal consultations to potential clients

  • Develop case strategy and prepare clients and witnesses for USCIS interviews and court testimony

  • Draft and submit legal briefs and supporting documentation for a variety of immigration cases

  • Liaise with law enforcement, prosecutors, and community-based organizations on legal updates

  • Mentor junior attorneys and work collaboratively with the legal team

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience practicing immigration law

  • Experience handling EOIR cases, detained representation, and USCIS applications

  • Demonstrated ability to manage a full caseload independently

  • Experience in client-facing roles, legal analysis, and strategy development

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership abilities

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited U.S. law school

Certifications

  • Active license to practice law in any U.S. jurisdiction (Texas Bar preferred)

Skills

  • Proficiency in legal writing, case preparation, and courtroom advocacy

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Experience with immigration case management software (preferred)

  • Ability to lead, mentor, and collaborate in a team-based environment
