General Litigation Associate Attorney

Profile

A law firm is seeking a General Litigation Associate Attorney in Detroit, MI. The attorney will be responsible for legal research, drafting pleadings, taking and defending depositions, discovery, preparing cases for trial, arguing motions, and assisting with trial. They must be familiar with practice areas including Labor and Employment, Professional Liability, and Commercial and Business Litigation. The ideal candidate will possess a very strong understanding and competency in State and Federal court rules and procedures, exceptional organizational skills to manage a varied caseload, and strong writing skills to effectively communicate with the court, clients, and opposing counsel.

Duties:

• Conduct legal research
• Draft pleadings, motions, and discovery documents
• Take and defend depositions
• Prepare cases for trial
• Argue motions
• Assist with trial preparation

Requirements:

• JD degree from an ABA-accredited law school
• Bar admission in the State of Michigan
• 3-7 years of litigation experience
• Familiarity with Labor and Employment, Professional Liability, and Commercial and Business Litigation
• Very strong understanding and competency of State and Federal court rules and procedures
• Organizational skills to manage a varied caseload
• Strong writing skills

Certifications:

Bar admission in the State of Illinois (a plus)
