A growing and dynamic law firm specializing in Intellectual Property (IP) disputes, litigation, and appeals is seeking an associate attorney to join its Newport Beach, CA office. This firm offers a unique blend of challenging BigLaw-level cases and a close-knit, small firm culture. The ideal candidate will have 1 to 2 years of experience in patent or IP litigation and possess strong academic credentials, excellent communication skills, and a passion for IP law. Duties

  • Handle IP litigation cases, focusing on patent disputes and appeals.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, and other legal documents related to IP matters.
  • Provide legal analysis and strategic counsel to clients in the technology and intellectual property sectors.
  • Manage discovery, depositions, and pretrial activities.
  • Participate in court appearances and hearings as required.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys on complex IP cases and litigation strategy.
  • Work closely with clients, providing updates and advising on case progress.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years of experience in patent or intellectual property litigation (preferred).
  • Admission to the California State Bar.
  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in a technical field (preferred).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • High academic performance and exceptional legal research and analytical skills.
  • USPTO Registration as a Patent Attorney (preferred).
  • Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and ability to manage competing deadlines.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in a technical field such as engineering, computer science, or a related discipline (preferred).

Certifications

  • Active membership in the California State Bar.
  • USPTO Registered Patent Attorney (preferred).

Skills

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong legal research and writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage complex IP cases.
  • Knowledge of patent law and intellectual property litigation.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized with the ability to handle multiple projects.
