Job Overview:
An established national law firm is hiring a Public Finance Career Associate Attorney with 2 to 4 years of experience to join its public finance practice. This position is ideal for attorneys seeking high-level legal work in a non-partner-track role with flexible scheduling options. The associate will advise public and private sector clients on a wide range of financing matters, including municipal bonds, infrastructure funding, nonprofit financings, and regulatory issues related to tax-exempt and taxable instruments.

Duties:
Represent state and local governmental entities, nonprofit organizations, and private entities in public finance matters
Assist in the issuance of municipal bonds, notes, and other tax-exempt or taxable obligations
Draft and review legal documents for infrastructure, healthcare, housing, education, energy, and cultural projects
Support matters involving IRS audits, SEC investigations, and enforcement actions
Advise on securitizations, secondary market transactions (including tender option bonds), and public-private partnerships
Contribute to financings involving tribal governments, cash flow programs, and economic development projects
Participate in bankruptcies and financial work-outs related to public finance structures
Requirements:
2–4 years of relevant experience in public finance, securities, or transactional law
Interest in long-term legal practice in a career-track (non-partner) role
Strong commitment to client service and meeting deadlines in a collaborative team setting
Education:
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
Certifications:
Active bar membership in West Virginia or another applicable jurisdiction, or eligibility to waive in
Skills:
Excellent writing, document drafting, and communication skills
Strong legal research and analytical capabilities
Ability to manage complex transactional work across multiple jurisdictions
High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
