Job Overview

A nationally recognized law firm is actively seeking a Senior Legal Innovation Attorney – AI to drive the adoption and advancement of artificial intelligence (AI), including generative AI, in legal practice. This role is positioned within the firm’s Innovation function and will support the development and implementation of next-generation legal technology solutions to enhance client services and internal workflows. The position works closely with cross-functional teams and reports to the Global Head of Practice Innovation.

Duties

  • Lead and manage initiatives to integrate AI and other legal technologies across practice groups

  • Provide one-on-one consulting and support to attorneys on AI tools and workflows

  • Collaborate with legal innovation and practice support teams to implement AI-driven solutions

  • Develop and deliver training programs, hands-on workshops, and design-thinking sessions

  • Identify and promote practice-specific AI use cases and assist in developing prompt libraries

  • Facilitate sessions to explore AI applications for roles, practice areas, and phases of client matters

  • Oversee and support AI & Tech Ambassador programs across departments

  • Maintain deep understanding of firm AI tools, including capabilities, enhancements, and roadmaps

  • Establish best practices and frameworks for efficient AI tool usage

  • Analyze internal usage data, benchmark industry trends, and identify areas for improvement

  • Lead technology pilots and support onboarding and rollout of AI platforms

  • Advise clients on AI implementation strategies and legal tech integration

  • Create case studies and knowledge-sharing resources related to innovation efforts

Requirements

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience practicing law at an Am Law 200 or equivalent large law firm

  • Proven experience in legal technology implementation, particularly with generative AI and large language models

  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional innovation projects in a professional services environment

  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain technical tools in accessible terms

  • Adept at solving complex problems with limited guidance or precedent

  • Proficiency in managing multiple, concurrent projects and priorities

  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work across multiple organizational levels

  • Positive, client-focused, and solutions-oriented mindset

  • Willingness to travel occasionally, as required

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school

  • Licensed and in good standing to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction

Certifications

  • Certifications in legal innovation, legal tech, or AI (preferred but not required)

Skills

  • Deep knowledge of AI and machine learning tools applicable to legal services

  • Familiarity with workflow automation, document management, and legal process improvement

  • Experience with vendor assessment and legal tech evaluation

  • Instructional design and training development for professional audiences

  • Strong research and analytical capabilities

  • Comfort with change management and legal operations strategy
