Chief of Staff and Secretary to the Board of Trustees

Responsibilities: Coordinate the College’s compliance with state and federal laws governing non-discrimination, affirmative action and equal opportunity. Serve as liaison with legal counsel on College matters. Direct and oversee special projects and strategic initiatives for the President. Manage searches at the level of senior staff and president. Assist the President with correspondence, inquiries, and speeches, consulting with other senior staff members as appropriate. Manage operations and financial affairs of the Office of the President, including supervision of staff and coordination of all functions and activities of the office. Work with executive support staff to strategically plan the President's attendance at internal and external events; ensure preparation of relevant documents and briefing material. Oversee (with support from support staff) all major ceremonial events, including Convocation, Commencement, and Class & Charter Day. Represent the President and the College to various internal and external constituencies. Plan, coordinate, and review quarterly Board meetings in consultation with the President and senior staff. Staff the Trustee Committee on Honorary Degrees and, with the Vice President for Communications and Development, the Committee on Nominations. Direct special projects for the President and Board of Trustees. Oversee other critical areas at the college as determined based on the qualification and expertise of the candidate and at the direction of the president.
