Job Overview: A leading law firm is seeking a skilled Trademark Associate to join its Intellectual Property team in either San Diego. The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of hands-on experience in trademark prosecution, including clearance, enforcement, and international trademark matters. The role requires a highly organized, self-motivated attorney who can manage a busy caseload while providing strategic counsel to clients across various industries.

Location:

  • San Diego, CA

Duties:

  • Conduct preliminary and in-depth U.S. and international trademark clearance searches
  • Draft identification of goods/services, evaluate specimens and Statements of Use, and respond to substantive office actions before the USPTO
  • Provide counsel on Madrid Protocol filings
  • Handle enforcement matters, including drafting cease-and-desist letters, takedown notices, and negotiating settlement and coexistence agreements
  • Draft trademark, copyright, and NIL (Name, Image, and Likeness) licenses and assignments
  • Provide copyright counseling and filing services
  • Oversee domain name enforcement, including drafting UDRP (Uniform Domain-Name Dispute-Resolution Policy) complaints
  • Review and clear content for use in social media and digital marketing campaigns
  • Offer due diligence and corporate transaction support on trademark, copyright, and domain matters
  • Collaborate with team members and clients on complex legal issues

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of trademark prosecution experience, including clearance, prosecution, and enforcement
  • Law firm experience required
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • High professionalism in client and colleague interactions
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines and responsibilities
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment

Education:

  • JD or LLM from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Must be admitted or eligible for admission to the state bar in California or New York

Skills:

  • Trademark clearance and prosecution
  • Trademark enforcement and litigation support
  • Familiarity with Madrid Protocol filings
  • Legal research, writing, and analysis
  • Strong communication and negotiation abilities
