A law firm is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Senior Associate Attorney or Senior Counsel to join their team in Denver, CO. This position requires extensive experience in the energy industry, particularly in regulatory, legislative, litigation, and transactional matters related to electricity, utilities, and renewables. The ideal candidate will have excellent academic credentials, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage complex legal issues independently and within a team.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide legal counsel and representation to clients in the energy industry, focusing on regulatory, legislative, litigation, and transactional matters.
• Manage and support regulatory compliance issues at both state and federal levels.
• Represent energy companies and large industrial users in negotiations and power purchase agreements with utilities.
• Handle litigation and regulatory proceedings related to the energy sector.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, internal teams, and external stakeholders.
• Stay current with changes in energy regulations and industry best practices.
• Advise clients on regulatory strategies and compliance with energy laws and policies.
• Draft, review, and negotiate legal documents and agreements related to energy transactions.
• Participate in business development efforts, including identifying new clients and opportunities within the energy sector.

Requirements

• Minimum of 7+ years of experience in the energy industry.
• Proven regulatory experience in electricity, utilities, and renewables.
• Demonstrated experience in supporting clients with regulatory, legislative, litigation, and transactional matters in the energy sector.
• Strong understanding of utility regulation at both state and federal levels.
• Experience in representing energy companies and large industrial users in negotiations and power purchase agreements with utilities.

Education and Certifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school.
• Active bar membership in good standing.
