Litigation Attorney

Profile

A law firm in Rochester is seeking a Litigation Attorney with 3+ years of experience in New York State and/or Federal courts. The ideal candidate will be licensed to practice law in New York and will possess strong research, writing, and communication skills. The role requires proficiency with technology, exceptional attention to detail, and experience in commercial/business litigation, employment litigation, high-asset matrimonial divorces, or Trust & Estate litigation. Prior law clerk experience is encouraged.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prepare Issue/Claims Memos, including issue spotting, researching claims, and developing defenses.
• Draft and file pleadings, including complaints, answers, and motions.
• Outline and prepare discovery requests and responses.
• Review and analyze client discovery, opposing party discovery, and third-party discovery.
• Research, draft, and prepare motions related to discovery, including motions to compel and for protective orders.
• Research and draft memoranda regarding evidentiary issues and in limine motions.
• Prepare comprehensive Motions to Dismiss and Summary Judgment Motions.
• Conduct thorough legal research to support case strategy and preparation.
• Collaborate with clients and other legal professionals to gather evidence and build strong cases.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and court procedures.
• Manage case files and ensure all documentation is accurate and up-to-date.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Active license to practice law in New York.
• Minimum of 3+ years of litigation experience in New York State and/or Federal courts.
• Strong research and writing skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Tech-savvy with proficiency in legal research tools and case management software.
• Exceptional attention to detail.
• Experience in commercial/business litigation or employment litigation is preferred.
• Experience with high-asset matrimonial divorces or Trust & Estate litigation is a plus.
• Prior law clerk experience is encouraged.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Active license to practice law in New York.
