Location:

• Syracuse, New York

Duties:

• Represent injured workers in hearings before the New York State Workers’ Compensation Board

• Conduct depositions of medical professionals

• Perform legal research and stay up to date with relevant legal developments

• Draft legal documents, including appeals, rebuttals, summations, and memoranda of law

• Advise clients on benefits, medical care, and the claims process

• Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients

• Evaluate and process new client intakes for potential representation

• Collaborate with legal support staff to ensure smooth case progression

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school

• Admission to the New York State Bar (recent graduates awaiting admission may also be considered)

• Demonstrated knowledge of New York Workers’ Compensation law and procedures

• Strong communication, negotiation, and litigation skills

• Ability to work independently while contributing to a team-oriented environment

• Compassionate and client-focused approach to legal advocacy

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications:

• Admission to the New York State Bar

• Consideration may be given to recent graduates pending admission

Skills:

• Thorough understanding of NYS Workers’ Compensation regulations

• Excellent legal research and drafting abilities

• Strong interpersonal skills for client interaction and negotiations

• Well-organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple cases

• Commitment to professional excellence and ethical standards
