Immigration Associate Attorney (Remote)

Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm based in New York City is seeking an experienced Immigration Associate Attorney to join its legal team on a full-time, remote basis. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in the immigration field, handling complex removal defense cases, family-based petitions, and a variety of other immigration matters. The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in immigration law, with expertise in removal defense, adjustment of status, and asylum cases, and will be comfortable working remotely while attending hearings and meetings as needed.

Duties:

  • Represent clients in removal proceedings, including bond hearings, master hearings, and individual hearings.
  • Prepare and file Adjustment of Status petitions, family-based applications, and other related immigration petitions.
  • Draft legal memorandums, affidavits of support, and hardship waiver petitions.
  • Handle communications with EOIR, USCIS, DOS, and clients on immigration matters.
  • Manage requests for evidence (RFEs), Notices of Intent to Deny (NOIDs), and handle appeals with the AAO and BIA.
  • Provide legal counsel and guidance to clients regarding immigration-related issues.
  • Attend removal hearings and interviews as required, with occasional travel to various states for hearings and client meetings.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in immigration law, with a focus on removal defense and family-based petitions.
  • Strong proficiency in drafting legal documents, including affidavits, memos, and petitions.
  • Experience in asylum cases, hardship waivers, and affidavits of support filings.
  • Knowledge of immigration-related notifications and appeals, such as RFEs, NOIDs, and AAO/BIA appeals.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage cases efficiently, with a strong understanding of legal procedures and timelines.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active Bar License in at least one state.

Skills:

  • Expertise in immigration law and removal defense.
  • Proficiency in legal document drafting and case management software (e.g., Docketwise, INSZoom).
  • Strong client communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts clearly.
  • Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage a high caseload effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
