A prestigious international law firm is currently seeking a highly qualified Art Law Associate to join its Private Client and Tax team in New York. This position offers the opportunity to work with a globally recognized art practice, advising a wide range of clients involved in the art market, including artists, collectors, galleries, private museums, and advisors. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in transactional law, estate planning, and taxation—particularly as they relate to art and cultural property.

Draft, review, edit, and negotiate legal agreements involving art transactions, including:
Purchase and sale agreements
Consignment and loan agreements
Auction and irrevocable bid agreements
Deeds of gift, licensing, credit agreements, and guarantees
Advise on issues related to logistics, shipping, and storage of artwork
Provide legal counsel on cultural property, endangered species, customs, and intellectual property matters
Advise high-net-worth clients on the tax implications of art transactions, including estate, gift, and sales/use taxes
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (tax, immigration, real estate, corporate, dispute resolution)
Participate in business development initiatives including writing, speaking engagements, and networking
Minimum 3–5 years of legal experience at a reputable law firm
Demonstrated experience in transactional work and legal matters involving art or private wealth
Proven ability to manage multiple high-value projects simultaneously
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
LL.M. in Taxation preferred but not required
Active and in good standing with the New York State Bar
Strong legal research, drafting, and negotiation skills
Deep understanding of the legal landscape surrounding fine art and collectibles
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
Highly organized and detail-oriented
Demonstrated interest or prior experience in the art market
Experience with domestic and international/cross-border transactions is a plus
Strong project management and team collaboration capabilities
