Job Overview

A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney in Fairfax, VA, with 1-2 years of experience to join their family law practice. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in family law and litigation, with Virginia bar licensure required. Trial experience is necessary, though clerkship experience may be considered.

Duties

• Provide litigation support to partners and manage own caseload.
• Draft and review pleadings, discovery, and pretrial motions.
• Prepare for and represent clients in family law cases across Northern Virginia.
• Participate in settlement conferences, depositions, hearings, trials, and mediations.
• Meet with and advise potential new clients.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Juris Doctorate required.
• Licensed by Virginia State Bar.
• 1-2 years of litigation experience.
• Demonstrated interest in family law preferred.
• Strong analytical, written, and oral communication skills.
• Ability to learn firm technology and work in a paperless office.
• Effective time management skills.
• Ability to commute to office, court, and other locations.

Education

• Doctorate required.
