A respected law firm is seeking a seasoned Commercial Litigation Attorney to join its team in Chicago. This role is suited for a litigation professional with 13 years of experience handling complex commercial disputes. The attorney will be expected to lead cases, manage client relationships, and contribute to the strategic development of the firm’s litigation practice. The ideal candidate brings not only technical excellence but also the confidence and judgment to work independently or as part of a litigation team in high-stakes matters.

Location:

Duties:

• Manage and lead complex commercial litigation matters from inception through trial and appeal
• Draft, review, and file pleadings, motions, discovery, and briefs
• Handle depositions, mediations, hearings, and courtroom proceedings
• Advise clients on litigation strategy, risk assessment, and dispute resolution
• Oversee and mentor junior attorneys and support staff
• Work with clients across various industries, maintaining and growing client relationships
• Coordinate with outside experts and consultants as needed
• Ensure compliance with court deadlines and procedural requirements

Requirements:

• 13 years of litigation experience, with a strong focus on commercial matters
• Proven ability to independently manage high-value and complex cases
• Experience handling all phases of litigation, including trial work
• Ability to supervise and develop junior attorneys
• Strong client-facing and relationship management skills

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school

Certifications:

• Active license to practice law in the State of Illinois (in good standing)

Skills:

• Exceptional legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Deep understanding of procedural and substantive aspects of commercial litigation
• Highly organized with excellent time and case management skills
