Associate General Counsel
The candidate will play an integral role in supporting the company’s operations and success by providing sound legal advice, exercising problem solving skills, and building trusted relationships with key business clients. Has responsibility for a multitude of legal management functions for the company, with an emphasis on commercial construction contract review and risk management. Develops short and long-term strategies impacting Harris’ legal function. Provides legal advice and counsel, represents Harris in legal proceedings and manages outside counsel relationships and accounts. Works with our executive team to ensure that the company is always in compliance with industry business process laws. Oversees legal issues for special assignments/situations as assigned. Should have a Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school. Membership in the State Bar as an attorney licensed to practice law in at least one state required (MN preferred). If licensed outside of Minnesota, must obtain Minnesota State license within 12 months. Must have 10+ years of experience managing a broad range of legal functions. Proven expertise in construction law is critical. Additional experience in corporate law, compliance and mergers and acquisitions is preferred. Also have 10+ years of proven business acumen and ability to develop and execute strategic plans. Plus 10+ years of proven track record of consistently and positively relating to people at all levels in an organization and maximizing external relationships, 7+ years of experience in construction law and corporate law, 5+ years of experience in advising and an interacting with senior executive leaders, including those with strong or diverse personalities or approaches.
