Job Overview:
A leading law firm is seeking a highly motivated Employment & Labor Associate with 3–6 years of experience to join its New York office. This position offers the opportunity to counsel venture capital and investment firms on employment-related legal matters. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in employment counseling and agreement drafting, familiarity with the venture capital ecosystem, and a collaborative mindset. Some litigation experience is helpful but not required.

Location:

• New York, NY

Duties:

• Provide employment law counseling to venture capital firms and investment clients

• Collaborate with the fund formation team to address employment-related matters for fund clients

• Draft and negotiate employment agreements, offer letters, severance packages, and policies

• Advise on employment-related compliance, compensation, and organizational issues

• Participate in employment-related due diligence for investments and transactions

• Support occasional employment litigation or dispute resolution matters as needed

Requirements:

• 3–6 years of relevant experience in employment and labor law

• Background in working with clients in the venture capital or investment space preferred

• Ability to manage multiple client needs in a fast-paced, dynamic practice

• Demonstrated initiative, responsiveness, and collaborative working style

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Active bar membership in New York, or eligibility for admission

Skills:

• Excellent legal writing, communication, and research skills

• Experience drafting and counseling on employment agreements and policies

• Strong understanding of employment compliance, including state and federal regulations

• Ability to assess risk and offer pragmatic solutions to client challenges

• Comfortable working across teams with fund formation and corporate counsel
