Location:

• Milwaukee, WI

Duties:

• Draft and prosecute U.S. and international patent applications with a focus on mechanical technologies

• Conduct patentability and freedom-to-operate searches and analyses

• Collaborate with inventors and in-house counsel on IP strategy and portfolio management

• Provide legal opinions on patent validity, infringement, and risk

• Respond to communications from the USPTO and other foreign patent offices

• Support due diligence in mergers, acquisitions, and technology transfers

Requirements:

• 1–3 years of relevant experience in patent prosecution

• Technical background in mechanical engineering (required)

• Strong academic record and demonstrated writing ability

• Ability to manage projects and work independently

• Excellent communication and time-management skills

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering

Certifications:

• Admission to the bar in at least one U.S. jurisdiction (required)

• USPTO registration (preferred or must be obtained shortly after hiring)

Skills:

• Proficient in patent drafting and USPTO procedures
