Location:
Duties:
Draft and prosecute U.S. and international patent applications with a focus on mechanical technologies
Conduct patentability and freedom-to-operate searches and analyses
Collaborate with inventors and in-house counsel on IP strategy and portfolio management
Provide legal opinions on patent validity, infringement, and risk
Respond to communications from the USPTO and other foreign patent offices
Support due diligence in mergers, acquisitions, and technology transfers
Requirements:
1–3 years of relevant experience in patent prosecution
Technical background in mechanical engineering (required)
Strong academic record and demonstrated writing ability
Ability to manage projects and work independently
Excellent communication and time-management skills
Education:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
Certifications:
Admission to the bar in at least one U.S. jurisdiction (required)
USPTO registration (preferred or must be obtained shortly after hiring)
Skills:
Proficient in patent drafting and USPTO procedures
Strong research and analytical skills
Ability to explain complex technical concepts in legal terms
