Job Title: Senior Counsel

Job Overview:
A reputable law firm based in San Diego, CA, is seeking a seasoned Senior Litigation Attorney to support its dynamic and expanding civil defense practice. Duties:

• Handle a diverse docket of civil litigation cases, including auto, premises, professional liability, general liability, and medical/dental malpractice.

• Represent clients in court for trials, hearings, depositions, and case management conferences (in-person and virtual).

• Prepare legal documents including pleadings, discovery, motions, and trial briefs.

• Analyze complex legal and factual issues, developing strategies for defense.

• Communicate with clients, experts, and opposing counsel to manage all phases of litigation.

• Participate in settlement negotiations, mediation, and arbitration proceedings.

• Contribute to team collaboration and mentor junior attorneys as needed.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in insurance defense or civil litigation.

• Active license in good standing with the State Bar of California and/or Nevada.

• Proven ability to manage cases independently from inception through resolution.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Comfortable appearing in court and handling trial responsibilities.

• Experience using legal research tools and case management systems.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Admission to the California or Nevada State Bar (required).

Skills:

• Excellent legal writing and analytical skills.

• Strategic thinker with sound judgment and case evaluation capabilities.

• Detail-oriented with effective time management and organizational skills.

• Proficiency in virtual litigation tools and legal technology platforms.

• Ability to work collaboratively in a team-driven environment.
