A law firm seeks a State and Local Tax Associate in San Francisco, CA. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex tax matters across various industries and jurisdictions, collaborating with a cross-office team to provide strategic client solutions.

Duties

• Support clients on corporate income and franchise tax, sales and use tax, property tax, payroll and withholding tax, and personal income tax matters.
• Assist in controversy, audit defense, and litigation support.
• Engage in tax planning, structuring, and transactional analysis.
• Collaborate with partners and senior attorneys on multi-state tax projects.

Requirements

• 3-5 years of dedicated State and Local Tax experience.
• Experience with corporate income and franchise tax, sales and use tax, property tax, payroll tax, and/or individual income tax matters.
• Exposure to controversy or litigation (administrative or judicial) is a plus.
• Experience with tax planning and restructuring matters preferred.
• Strong research, writing, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively across offices and disciplines.

Education

• JD degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Admitted to practice in the state in which they are officing.
