Job Overview

A law firm seeks an experienced Trusts and Estates Partner with a portable book of business to join their practice in Bloomfield Hills, MI. The successful candidate will collaborate with a team of over 30 attorneys and paralegals, advising clients on complex estate planning, trust administration, wealth preservation, business succession, and probate litigation.

Duties

• Develop comprehensive estate plans tailored to clients' needs and goals.
• Advise clients on tax implications and strategies to minimize liabilities.
• Handle probate processes, including court proceedings and asset distribution.
• Manage and administer trusts in compliance with laws and agreements.
• Identify and pursue business development opportunities.

Requirements

• Strong foundation in estate planning, tax law, probate law, and trust law.
• Experience with high net worth families and complex estate planning.
• Proficiency in estate and gift tax planning, including CRUTS, SLATS, GRATS, FLPs, QPRTs, IDGTs, ILITs.
• Experience in succession planning, fiduciary accounting, and tax preparation.
• Excellent communication skills for explaining complex legal concepts.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Precision in drafting legal documents.
• Experience mentoring junior attorneys.

Education

• Juris Doctor from an ABA accredited law school.

Certifications

• Licensed and in good standing to practice law in the state of Michigan.
