A law firm seeks an experienced Trusts and Estates/Tax Senior Associate or Partner to join their practice in Richmond, VA. The candidate will possess deep technical knowledge, a client-focused approach, and the ability to lead a sophisticated trusts and estates platform, including estate planning, administration, tax planning, and fiduciary litigation support.

Duties

• Advise high-net-worth individuals, families, and business owners on estate planning strategies.
• Draft and negotiate complex estate planning documents tailored to client objectives.
• Provide counsel on fiduciary duties, trust administration, and probate matters.
• Collaborate with corporate and real estate colleagues for integrated planning solutions.
• Develop and grow a book of business; deepen relationships with clients and referral sources.
• Assist clients with tax planning and controversies.
• Support corporate attorneys with tax aspects of transactions and planning.
• Lead and mentor associates and paralegals; contribute to practice management.
• Stay current on tax law developments and advise clients on planning opportunities.

Requirements

• J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar membership in Virginia.
• 5 to 10 years of substantial trusts and estates experience.
• Experience counseling tax-exempt entities.
• Ability to originate and grow business; a portable book preferred.
• Strong drafting skills and technical command of tax planning.
• Excellent client counseling and communication skills.
• Proven leadership skills and commitment to mentoring junior attorneys.

Education

• J.D. from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active bar membership in Virginia.
