Job Overview:
A distinguished law firm located in Hartford, CT, is seeking a dedicated Associate Attorney to join its medical malpractice litigation team. Duties:
Manage a full caseload of medical malpractice defense matters from intake through resolution
Draft and review pleadings, motions, discovery documents, and legal correspondence
Conduct depositions, attend hearings, and participate in trials
Engage in strategic case planning in collaboration with senior attorneys and experts
Provide clients with timely updates and thorough case assessments
Research and draft legal memoranda to support case positions
Support mediation and arbitration efforts with effective advocacy
Meet all internal deadlines and court-imposed timelines
Requirements:
1-6 years of experience handling medical malpractice or healthcare defense litigation
Admitted to practice in Connecticut or eligible via a qualifying UBE score
Demonstrated experience in motion practice and managing written discovery
Previous judicial clerkship experience is considered a plus
Ability to work independently while also contributing to a collaborative team
Strong organizational skills and attention to procedural detail
Education:
Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school
Certifications:
Active Connecticut Bar membership (or eligibility for admission through UBE score)
Skills:
Exceptional legal writing and analytical abilities
Strong verbal communication and advocacy skills
Proficiency in legal research platforms and case management tools
Ability to build and maintain client relationships through responsive and professional service
