A law firm seeks a Special Counsel to join its Health Law Practice Group in New York City, NY. The role involves substantial commercial contracting experience in managed care or the pharmaceutical supply chain, supporting a team advising national and regional health plans.

Duties

• Lead and manage commercial contracting matters in managed care and pharmacy benefit industries.
• Draft, negotiate, and advise on PBM contracts and related services agreements.
• Oversee the contracting lifecycle for PBM procurements for health plans.
• Serve as a primary client contact, potentially requiring travel for meetings and negotiations.
• Counsel clients on health plan operations, regulatory frameworks, and contract administration issues.
• Independently lead client engagements, contract negotiations, and work streams.

Requirements

• Experience in complex commercial contracts and transactional matters in the PBM or managed health industry.
• Familiarity with federal and state regulations of health plans and pharmaceutical supply chain providers.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Professionalism in engaging with demanding clients.
• Ability to balance multiple priorities and responsibilities.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to collaborate effectively in team settings.

Education

• JD or LLM from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications

• Admitted to or eligible for admission in New York or Washington, DC.

• Ability to anticipate and respond to client needs effectively.
