Job Overview:
A well-regarded law firm is seeking a Commercial Real Estate Associate to join its team. The ideal candidate will have 2–5 years of verifiable experience in commercial real estate law within a mid-to-large law firm setting. This position involves a broad range of real estate work, including leasing, acquisitions, sales, due diligence, and closings. The role requires a detail-oriented, highly organized attorney with strong drafting skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced, client-focused environment.

Location:

  • Providence, RI

Duties:

  • Draft and negotiate leases from both landlord and tenant perspectives

  • Prepare property acquisition, sale documents, and related transactional agreements

  • Conduct due diligence reviews including title, zoning, environmental, lease, and survey reviews

  • Draft and review real estate documents such as:

    • Easements

    • Restrictive covenants

    • Estoppels

    • SNDAs

    • FIRPTA certificates

    • Deeds and closing documents

  • Monitor transactional deadlines and prepare critical date schedules

  • Handle title and survey review, title objections, and compliance with ALTA standards

  • Oversee and conduct closings, including settlement statement review and post-closing follow-up

  • Draft correspondence regarding lease disputes, claims, and defenses

  • Support senior attorneys and coordinate with staff and paralegals on transaction management

  • Maintain organized client files and ensure accurate documentation

Requirements:

  • 2–5 years of continuous and specific experience in commercial real estate law

  • Experience in a law firm with at least 50 attorneys strongly preferred

  • Ability to manage multiple matters efficiently and professionally

  • Proven ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

  • Bachelor's degree required

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law and in good standing in at least one of the following states:

    • Massachusetts

    • Rhode Island

    • New York

    • North Carolina

    • South Carolina

    • Florida

Skills:

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Excellent drafting and legal document preparation abilities

  • High-level proficiency with due diligence processes and transactional workflows

  • Understanding of state and federal court procedures and real estate regulations

  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to manage confidential matters with discretion

  • Strong initiative and sound professional judgment
