Job Overview:
A respected immigration law firm is seeking a passionate and driven Associate Immigration Attorney to join its legal team. This position offers the opportunity to represent individuals and families in a wide range of immigration matters, including removal defense, family-based petitions, waivers, and naturalization. Ideal candidates will have experience in immigration law, a strong sense of advocacy, and a desire to make a difference in clients’ lives. Location:
Silver Spring, MD
Duties:
Provide legal counsel and representation in immigration matters including removal defense, family-based immigration, waivers, visas, and naturalization
Prepare and file immigration petitions, applications, and supporting documentation
Represent clients before U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), Immigration Courts, and the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA)
Conduct legal research and remain current on immigration law developments and policies
Maintain regular communication with clients, providing case updates and legal guidance
Collaborate with legal assistants, paralegals, and fellow attorneys to manage caseloads
Participate in community outreach, education events, and pro bono activities
Requirements:
1–3 years of experience practicing immigration law (preferred)
Familiarity with removal proceedings, family-based petitions, and USCIS/BIA procedures
Ability to manage multiple cases in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
Commitment to client service and social justice
Education:
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
Certifications:
Active Bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
Admission in Maryland, Virginia, or Washington, D.C. preferred
Skills:
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Strong research and legal analysis capabilities
Client-focused approach with strong interpersonal skills
Bilingual abilities, especially in Spanish or other commonly spoken languages, are a plus
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a legal team
