Job Overview
A nationally respected law firm is seeking an Associate Attorney to join its Customs & International Trade practice. The position focuses on providing legal counsel related to import compliance, trade regulations, and enforcement issues. Ideal candidates will have 2–3 years of relevant experience, strong academic credentials, and the ability to manage multiple assignments within a collaborative, multi-office team. This is a hybrid position, with in-office presence generally required two to three days per week.

Advise clients on U.S. import laws, customs compliance, and trade regulations
Draft legal memoranda, client advisories, and position papers on regulatory matters
Represent clients in matters before U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), U.S. Department of Commerce, and other trade agencies
Assist with classification, valuation, country of origin, and free trade agreement analysis
Support internal investigations and audits related to customs enforcement
Coordinate with internal teams and clients to manage complex trade issues
Stay current on evolving international trade and tariff laws
2–3 years of experience in customs/import compliance, preferably in a law firm, in-house legal department, or government agency
Strong interest in international trade regulations and global supply chain issues
Ability to manage multiple deadlines and produce high-quality work in a fast-paced environment
Willingness to collaborate across multiple offices and practice groups
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited U.S. law school
Strong academic performance required
Admission to the bar in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
Additional trade-related certifications (e.g., Licensed Customs Broker) are a plus but not required
Excellent legal research and writing skills
Strong analytical and organizational capabilities
Familiarity with U.S. customs laws, enforcement, and administrative processes
Ability to communicate effectively with government agencies and global business clients
Proficiency in managing regulatory filings, compliance reviews, and trade advisory projects
Team-oriented with attention to detail and responsiveness
