Job Overview: A law firm is seeking a skilled and experienced Defense Litigation Associate for their office in downtown Seattle. The successful candidate will have a minimum of five years of litigation experience and the ability to manage cases independently while interacting directly with clients. This role involves handling a wide range of defense litigation matters, including business litigation, construction law, and professional liability, among others.

Duties:

• Independently handle a variety of defense litigation cases, including but not limited to:
  • Business Litigation
  • Construction Law
  • Data Breach & Security Response
  • Hospitality & Food-Borne Illness Litigation
  • Motor Vehicle Accidents
  • Premises Liability
  • Product Liability
  • Professional Liability
  • Real Estate Litigation
  • Toxic Tort / Asbestos Litigation
  • Transportation & Trucking Law
• Draft, write, and research legal documents.
• Engage in deposition, motions practice, and trials.
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships.

Requirements:

• Minimum of five years of litigation experience.
• Solid drafting, writing, and researching skills.
• Strong client relationship and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage cases independently and work directly with clients.
• Experience with depositions, motion practice, and trial preparation.
• Washington State Bar membership required.
• Experience in school law or public entity defense (desired but not required).

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Active member of the Washington State Bar (required).

Skills:

• Excellent legal drafting, research, and writing skills.
• Strong case management and litigation skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with clients and team members.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities.
