This full-time, in-office role involves advising clients on a wide range of SALT matters, including income, franchise, and sales and use taxes. The position offers the opportunity to provide strategic tax consulting, compliance, litigation, and policy support to a diverse client base across multiple industries.

Duties

• Provide tax consulting and planning services related to state and local tax (SALT) issues

• Advise clients on income, franchise, sales, and use tax matters

• Support tax compliance efforts and risk management strategies

• Represent clients in state and local tax controversies, including litigation

• Stay informed of legislative and regulatory developments in SALT policy

• Collaborate with cross-functional legal teams on client matters

Requirements

• Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in a law firm or accounting firm

• Strong knowledge of state and local income, franchise, and sales/use taxes

• Demonstrated ability to handle complex SALT matters independently

• Excellent analytical, research, and writing skills

• Strong verbal communication and client-relations abilities

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school

• Strong academic credentials required

Certifications

• Admission to the Bar in at least one U.S. jurisdiction

• Eligibility to practice in Illinois or willingness to obtain necessary licensure
