St. Louis, Missouri
Prepare and prosecute U.S. and international patent applications
Conduct patentability and freedom-to-operate analyses
Collaborate with inventors and corporate clients to understand technical disclosures
Review and manage patent portfolios for clients
Provide strategic intellectual property counseling
Communicate effectively with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)
Minimum of 2 years of experience in patent preparation and prosecution
Demonstrated interest in intellectual property and patent law
Strong work ethic and ability to manage multiple projects
Excellent attention to detail and client-focused mindset
Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and within a team
Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
Undergraduate degree in a technical field preferred (see below)
Admission to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
Registration to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) preferred
Background in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering preferred
Candidates with other technical degrees (e.g., Computer Science, Physics, Chemical Engineering) will also be considered
Strong technical writing and legal drafting skills
Effective communication with clients, inventors, and examiners
Ability to interpret and analyze complex technical information
