Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Commercial and General Litigation Associate Attorney in Syracuse, NY. This role offers a hybrid work schedule and requires 3-5 years of litigation experience, with the ability to manage cases from inception to conclusion.

Duties

• Research and collaborate with senior attorneys to devise case strategies.
• Take and defend depositions.
• Manage discovery, including electronic discovery.
• Draft reports, legal memoranda, pleadings, discovery demands/responses, motions, and briefs.
• Participate in trial and ADR proceedings.
• Represent clients in court.
• Manage day-to-day aspects of employment law and personal injury files under supervision.
• Maintain reasonable monthly billable hour requirements.

Requirements

• 3+ years of litigation experience.
• Admission in New York or ability to waive in; additional admission in Federal preferred.
• Experience before NYS courts; federal court experience preferred.
• Familiarity with Zoom, MS Teams, and other video conferencing platforms.
• Ability to travel for in-person depositions and court conferences, including overnights.
• High-level organizational skills for prioritizing workload.
• Demonstrated ability to absorb, process, and understand new information rapidly.
• Must exhibit conscientiousness, dedication, self-discipline, and a sense of responsibility.
• Experience with online research sites.
• Excellent research skills and written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be able to manage competing priorities.
• Must maintain high standards of performance.
• Must have experience with online filing and research sites.

Education

• Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications

• Admission in New York (or ability to waive in) required.
