Job Overview:
A well-established law firm based in Chicago, IL, is seeking a driven and experienced General Liability Associate Attorney. This role offers a dynamic litigation environment with a focus on complex claims, court appearances, trial preparation, and strategic case management. The ideal candidate will be a resourceful legal professional with a strong command of research, writing, and advocacy skills, ready to join a collaborative team dedicated to delivering exceptional client outcomes.

Duties:

• Conduct in-depth file reviews and legal evaluations of claims and relevant causes of action

• Perform high-level legal research and draft comprehensive briefs, pleadings, memoranda, and appellate submissions

• Handle discovery processes, including drafting and responding to discovery requests

• Represent clients at depositions, arbitrations, court hearings, and trials

• Collaborate with and manage expert witnesses

• Prepare for trial and actively participate in courtroom proceedings

• Manage a billable hour expectation of 1950 annually

• Occasional travel as necessary for case-related matters

Requirements:

• Minimum of 5 years’ litigation experience, specifically in general liability matters

• Admission to the Illinois Bar and in good standing

• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex litigation matters

• Responsiveness and strong interpersonal communication with clients and team members

• Commitment to timely follow-up on client inquiries and deadlines

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications:

• Active and valid license to practice law in the state of Illinois

Skills:

• Advanced legal research and analytical capabilities

• Outstanding legal writing and oral advocacy skills

• Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving aptitude

• Ability to manage workload autonomously while collaborating within a team
