Job Title: Associate Attorney

Job Overview:
A San Diego-based law firm is seeking a dedicated Associate Attorney to support its litigation and transactional teams. This hybrid role is ideal for a motivated legal professional with substantial civil litigation experience, particularly in construction-related matters. The position allows for direct client interaction, collaboration with experienced trial attorneys, and exposure to both courtroom proceedings and transactional assignments.

Duties:

• Oversee a diverse portfolio of civil litigation cases, with emphasis on construction disputes, general liability, and insurance defense

• Conduct all stages of litigation, including discovery, depositions, motion drafting, mediations, hearings, and trial preparation

• Prepare legal documents such as pleadings, discovery requests/responses, settlement agreements, and legal memoranda

• Provide strategic legal advice to both insurance providers and private sector clients

• Review and draft transactional documents for construction and real estate matters

• Work alongside senior attorneys and legal professionals in a collaborative, growth-oriented setting

Requirements:

• Minimum of 4 years of relevant civil litigation experience

• Prior exposure to construction law preferred

• Comfortable handling a high-volume caseload with minimal supervision

• Proficient in legal research, writing, and oral advocacy

• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited U.S. law school

Certifications:

• Active license to practice law in the State of California, in good standing

Skills:

• Strong legal drafting and analytical skills

• Ability to prioritize and manage competing deadlines

• Team-oriented mindset with a high level of initiative

• Familiarity with transactional law is an advantage

• Comfortable in a hybrid work environment
